APPROACH
At Truth in Action, we work with students to develop awareness of their own ability, to understand who they are as a person, how they respond, and how they operate in the moment as a human being.
As well as Sam Roccia’s ‘Truth’ technique, Sam also draws from other established techniques; Meisner, Laban, Chekhov, Stanislavski and Uta Hagen so that students can build a versatile toolkit.
But technique alone isn’t enough; it’s how we apply it, with self-awareness and presence, that creates depth in a performance and that’s where Sam comes in.
Sam’s goal is to help actors bring themselves fully to a role, grounded in their own choices, without needing to use substitution or trigger real-life experiences.
Sam emphasises on connection and responsiveness: investing in your scene partner, responding to what you see and hear, and building an exchange that feels alive and layered. Focusing on strengths first, guiding students to trust their instincts and explore their own emotional intelligence, rather than forcing choices that don’t come naturally.
In essence, teaching actors to understand themselves and bring that awareness into every scene, digging deep to find their own facets.

UP AND COMING WORKSHOPS
SATURDAY 27 JUNE 2026
SCREEN ACTING INTENSIVE WITH CLIVE RUSSELL (GAME OF THRONES) AND SAM ROCCIA
A space to work simply and truthfully on camera. Focusing on presence, connection and real behaviour.
There is a shared thread between Clive Russell's approach to acting and Sam Roccia’s: a belief that truth is always more powerful than performance.
Both actors are drawn to work that feels lived rather than demonstrated, valuing presence over presentation, listening over showing, and the courage to trust what is happening in the moment. Whether working on stage or screen, the focus is not on creating emotion but on allowing genuine human behaviour to emerge.
In this workshop we will explore acting from the inside out - using imagination, connection, impulse and observation to create work that is grounded, truthful and alive.
It is an opportunity to investigate character with curiosity, playfulness and depth, while remaining rooted in authenticity.
SATURDAY 11 JULY 2026
8 EFFORTS OF LABAN INTENSIVE WORKSHOP LED BY SAM ROCCIA
What is Laban?
Laban's Eight Efforts are a powerful movement tool used by actors to explore character, emotion and behaviour through the body.
By experimenting with different qualities of movement, actors can discover fresh character choices, break habitual patterns and unlock greater depth in their work. The Efforts offer a practical bridge between the physical and psychological life of a character, creating performances that feel truthful, specific and alive.
This workshop is exploratory, practical and fun. Through movement, improvisation and screen-based exercises, you'll investigate how the Eight Efforts can deepen characterisation, expand your creative range and bring greater authenticity to your screen acting.

Our 8 year old daughter Scarlett was absolutely buzzing the whole way home from each of Sam's classes during half term. She honestly had the BEST time and cannot wait for her future classes. With it being Scarlett's first classes, we really didn't expect her to be this comfortable and confident. That says a lot about Sam's teaching. Sam comes highly recommend by us!!
